Habitat: 

The cycad's range is centred on the Maluku Islands, extending northwards to Sulawesi, eastwards to New Guinea, and westwards to Java and southern Borneo. It also occurs on Christmas Island, an Australian territory in the Indian Ocean 300 km (190 mi) south of Java, in Australia's Top End (Darwin), and in Western Australia. It is cultivated in Fiji and Vanuatu.

Flowering Season:

The flower season is from summer to early autumn.

Fruiting Season:

Produce seeds not fruits. The seeds develop from the female cones, and the fruiting season is typically in late September to late October.

Climatic conditions:

It thrives in tropical regions with high temperatures and high humidity,prefers temperatures between 20°C (68°F) and 30°C (86°F).It grows well in well-draining soils, often on rocky hillsides, cliffs, and coastal areas. It prefers partial shade to full sun.

Seed Propagation:

It is propagated by both sexual and asexual methods. Asexual methods include suckers and leaf basal cuttings.

Parts used:

Seeds: The seeds are edible and used as a food source. They are rich in starch and can be used to make sago flour.

Stem: The stem is used to produce sago, a type of starch extracted from the pith.

Leaves: The leaves are used in traditional medicine to treat various ailments, including fever, rheumatism, and skin conditions.
