Habitat:

It is native to the Caribbean. This species thrives in tropical coastal environments, including beaches, riverbanks, and lowland forests.

 

Flowering Season: 

spring and summer months. The flowers are small and typically clustered in long, pendulous inflorescences.

Fruiting Season:

June to September and produces small, round, and purple-black fruits that are similar to berries.

Seed Propagation:

Before sowing, the seeds should be cleaned and can be soaked in warm water for 12–24 hours. Sow the seeds in well-drained soil. It is best to plant them in seed trays or pots filled with a light, well-aerated mix of sand and organic matter.

Climatic Conditions:

temperature range is 25°C to 35°C,  high rainfall environments (1,000 mm to 2,500 mm ) It requires full sun to grow properly, Prefers well-drained, sandy, or loamy soils with a slightly acidic to neutral pH.

Fruit:  Some parts of the fruit are used in traditional medicine for their potential to treat mild ailments.

Leaves: The leaves are often used for thatching roofs or crafting woven items like baskets or mats in traditional communities.

Wood: The wood is sometimes used for construction purposes, particularly in thatched roofs and light furniture.
